Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan

Why we participate in Expo 2025, Osaka, Kansai, Japan.

Expo 2025, Osaka, Kansai, Japan, has opened under the theme, Designing Future Society for Our Lives.
Mitsubishi Logisnext is a Bronze Partner of the “Theme Weeks,” an initiative in which countries from around the world create a “Future Society for Our Lives” and solve global-scale issues through dialogue.

The environment surrounding our logistics, a deemed infrastructure that sustains society today, is dramatically transforming.
The increasing demand for logistics due to the expanded e-commerce and other businesses has been further diversifying customer needs for smaller, more segmented, and faster deliveries, yet with high-quality operation. Consequently, the logistics worksite is under strong pressure to improve its operational efficiency and work environment, while addressing social issues such as labor shortages.
Under these circumstances, Mitsubishi Logisnext is working on a variety of initiatives to improve the efficiency and sustainability of its logistics operations. In the meantime, the company also values opportunities for each employee to go outside the workplace and company and learn from the outside. This is because the company believes that the knowledge and stimulation gained from outside will motivate each employee to take the next step and become aware of new issues.
By participating in the Theme Weeks and actively getting involved in Expo 2025, Osaka, Kansai, Japan, we will be able to interact with people from a variety of backgrounds, including experts, companies, and organizations. We see this as an unrepeatable opportunity.
Mitsubishi Logisnext will take advantage of the opportunity of Expo 2025, Osaka, Kansai, Japan, to expand our possibilities for co-creation with our many stakeholders.

Theme Weeks: We utilized four themes when conducting our activities.

The “Theme Weeks” is an initiative in which countries from around the world create a “Future Society for Our Lives” and solve global-scale issues through dialogue.

About the Theme Weeks | Theme Weeks of Expo 2025, Osaka, Kansai, Japan

From the eight themes of the Theme Weeks, we have selected the following four themes that are closely related to our Purpose and Materiality (important issues), which we defined by considering the importance to our business, as well as the interests and impacts of our stakeholders. Then, we are participating in the relevant planning sessions hosted by the Expo Association and expanding business networking with fellow participants.
As a company that promotes sustainability management, we will contribute to solving various social issues through our efforts.

As part of the Co-Creation Challenges, we aim to create a Community Where We can Live as We Are and contribute to the further evolution of mobility from the perspective of the Movement of Goods. We believe that this initiative is closely related to the theme of Expo 2025, Osaka, Kansai, Japan, Designing Future Society for Our Lives.

We expanded our activities beyond the venue; we gain bigger opportunities to learn.

Taking advantage of the Expo as a starting point, we expanded our presence outside the company.

We participated in the Nikkei SDGs Festival held in Osaka from February 17 to 19, 2025.
At the event, local governments, companies, universities, and organizations working on social issues gathered to set up booth exhibits, hold talk sessions, and announce their activities for the future.
At the talk session held under the title, A New Challenge for the Expo: What the Theme Weeks Means, on February 17, Hiroyuki Sugiura, our company's Head of Engineering Headquarters took to the stage to report our efforts to realize a sustainable logistics infrastructure and our activities at the Expo.

Personnel and business networking with external partners

Together with Cascade (Japan) Limited, another participants in the Team Expo 2025: Co-Creation Challenge as we are, we conducted the first demonstration experiment in Japan of an autonomous guided forklift (AGF) with single-double pallet handlers.
This AGF is equipped with a special attachment, single-double pallet handler, that enable one forklift to handle one or two pallets.
This type of attachment is already in use on manned forklifts in the beverage industry. It is expected to be applied to AGFs to respond to the need for unmanned operation.
Both companies participate in the TEAM EXPO 2025 program and plan to continue collaborating at future events in and after Expo 2025, Osaka, Kansai, Japan.
